ABOUT ME

Hello all! Thank you for visiting my About Me page, and taking part in my class this year. My name is Megan Hurt and I have always had a passion for English and literature. When I was in Elementary school, I would travel back to my teacher's class from previous years and read to their class during my recess period. As a child, I was that kid staying up past their bedtime, with a flashlight under their covers, journaling and writing stories. It was clear from a young age that I was meant to be a teacher, I didn't ask why, I trusted the feeling. 
I graduated from Western Michigan University with my bachelor's in English and my minor in Political Science. In my free time, I love to travel (I added some pictures below of my favorite mountain shots.) I have a passion for the west side of the country and spend a lot of time out there climbing mountains and exploring. I love to read and write (I also attached a recommended reading list that you can find on my home page). I also love adding to my ever-growing houseplant collection and hanging out with my two cats, who I am sure you will hear loads about!
I am a teacher because I believe this is where it all starts, with communication, reading, and writing. Without building on these tools, it will be hard to excel in your academic and professional life. I want to asset you in becoming not just a better reader and writer, but a better student and person, just as you can help me become a better teacher and a better person.
